Overview
Phantasia is a groundbreaking interactive art exhibition located in downtown Toronto that celebrates the transformative power of imperfection in the creative process. This youth-led media exhibition, curated and developed by Rubiat Fusigboye as part of a fourth-year project, creates an immersive space where digital technology intertwines with natural growth patterns.

The three-day experience guides visitors through thoughtfully designed themed rooms that mirror the organic stages of creative development. Each space encourages participants to break free from perfectionism and embrace the authentic, sometimes messy journey of creation. Opening with a showcase featuring works from emerging artists, Phantasia invites guests to explore at their own pace without the pressure of external validation.

As visitors move through the exhibition, they are prompted to consider profound questions about their own creative practice: What might emerge if they released the need for perfection? What beauty lies in unplanned moments, happy accidents, and unexpected turns? Through this immersive environment, Phantasia celebrates the courage required to create without restraint and demonstrates how embracing imperfection can become a portal to discovery, innovation, and genuine artistic expression.
Personal Piece #1
Take It Off the Shelf
This interactive piece features a hand-cranked radio sitting on a simple shelf, positioned like forgotten creativity waiting to be rediscovered.

The radio's antenna is cut short, symbolizing incomplete creative potential. Yet it still works through human connection - viewers discover that cranking the handle while touching the shortened antenna strengthens the signal dramatically.

Participants are invited to take the radio off the shelf, turn the crank, and touch the antenna. This physical engagement mirrors how creativity flourishes through effort and emotional connection. As they work the crank and maintain contact with the antenna, static transforms into clarity - demonstrating how personal connection and persistence transform creative output.
Personal Piece #2
Khaos Garden
Not for the faint of heart. Test your creative resilience against distraction, frustration, and atmospheric challenges that mimic whatever stands between you and your best creative self. Navigate a reflective maze where each turn offers unexpected discoveries, moments of insight hidden among the chaos.

As you journey deeper, mirrors reflect not just your image but the creative obstacles you typically face. Scattered throughout are small treasures of inspiration, tiny installations that reward the persistent explorer. Each detour and dead end serves its purpose, teaching patience and perspective.

The path isn't meant to be easy. It's designed to evoke the very real challenges of the creative process. But for those who persevere, a final treasure awaits at the center, perhaps an unexpected perspective, a moment of clarity, or a creative tool to carry forward.
Personal Piece #3
Paperscape
This interactive installation invites visitors into a playful space of creativity and expression. Colorful paper materials, scissors, markers, and crafting tools are provided on accessible tables.

Participants can create paper art - from simple drawings to notes of encouragement or poetic expressions. A dedicated zine-making station offers templates for beginners and materials for experienced creators to craft mini-magazines to take home or contribute to the collection.Creations become part of a growing community display with suspended strings and frames where visitors hang their contributions, forming a collaborative tapestry of positive messages and artistic expressions that evolves throughout the exhibition.
Open to new opportunities.
